Holy Week in the Philippines

Holy Week or "Mahal na Araw" is the fitting culmination of the lenten season beginning on Palm Sunday and ending on Easter Sunday. In the Philippines, commemoration of the Lord's Passion and Resurrection is marked by traditional activities such as processions, pabasa (singing of the Pasyon), stations of the cross, act of penance (self-flagellation), re-enactment of Jesus' last hours (live-crucifixion, Senakulo) etc. on top of the Catholic Church's liturgical activities (during this season).

A. Holy Week in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan: My Family's Tradition

Documenting our family's Holy Week traditions. No one can actually remember when our family started joining the Holy Week processions in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan. But from that time  until present, our Mater Dolorosa/Virgen Alegria has been part of our town's Good Friday and Easter processions.

B. Holy Week in other Parishes in Luzon

I rarely get the chance to take pictures of Holy Week activities outside San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan (given that I have commitments in my hometown) however when an opportunity arises I make sure my camera is ready to take pictures of these events. Documenting activities outside my Parish in Bulacan.
