Led by the Cofradia de la Inmaculada Concepcion
The Grand Marian Procession or GMP as it is commonly known among "Santo Enthusiasts" is a procession of various images of Mary (under different titles) both privately and church owned. The procession was started in the 80's in honor of the Blessed Virgin and to resurrect the traditions of Old Manila (thus is no longer just a religious activity but a tourist attraction as well). The Procession is held every 1st Sunday of December and it winds along the streets inside the walled city of Intramuros. It usually showcases sixty to eighty carroza's of the Blessed Mother all beautifully bedecked with flowers and other decorations. The procession usually starts at 4:00 pm and it takes 3 to 4 hours until all the images are introduced. Although other Parishes and Towns have started their own version of "Grand Marian Procession" nothing still compares to the grandeur (in terms of participating images and individuals) of the Cofradia's Marian Procession.
