October Devotion 2011: Opening Ceremony, Enthronement of the Image

September 25, 2011

Yesterday, the church is commemorating/honoring seamen. What a nice coincidence! The La Naval tradition is based on people who worked the seas, with her greatest triumph, the victory over the Dutch Forces in 1646.

The 5:00 pm Mass

The Enthronement is scheduled after the 5 pm mass. After the mass, the image will be processed inside the Parish and transferred to her "throne" throughout the month of October.

As the image of Our Lady of La Naval is being processed, the Choir led by Bro. Ding will sing Inang Maria.

Sa iyong kandungan aking natikman
Ang unang pagmamahal
Kahit musmos pa, nariyan ka na
Kapiling ka aking ina.

Hanggang sa pagtulog, ikaw ay kasama
Hanggang sa buong magdamag
Ipinaghehele ng butihing nanay
Ang kanyang bunsong mahal.

Refrain:

Kahit kailan, kahit saan
Laman ka ng ala-ala
Tanging bituin, sa aki'y langit
Tanging puso sa dibdib
Inang sinisinta, SANTA MARIA.

And the program begins, some changes were made to ensure that the activity will still end by 6:30 pm in time for the next mass

Took a while before the image was lifted from the trolley to the "throne". I thought having two bases ready will be easier but it turned out to be more confusing. Those lifting in front of the image where lifting her correctly, from the image body. Those positioned at the back were lifting the whole image including the base. Really took more time than expected communicating what should be done.

Image Enthroned

After a few minutes struggling lifting her from the trolley, the holes on the image's body not aligning with the screws etc etc...at long last we were able to move the image to her other base.

Salve, Regina, mater misericordiae:
Vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra, salve.
Ad te clamamus, exsules, filii Hevae.
Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes
in hac lacrimarum valle.
Eia ergo, Advocata nostra,
illos tuos misericordes oculos
ad nos converte.
Et Iesum, benedictum fructum ventris tui,
nobis, post hoc exsilium ostende.
O clemens: O pia: O dulcis
Virgo Maria.

The Mother Butler group steps in and adds white tulle around the "throne" to protect the image and the altar decoration. Gearing up for the other activities in October.
