We consecrate today our thoughts of you, only with you shall they be occupied; our words, only of you shall they speak; our sufferings, that we may endure them for your sake. We beg you Senor Santo Nino, illumine our understanding, kindle our will, cleanse our body, sanctify our soul. We wish what you wish, because you wish, as you wish, as long as you wish.
It has been two years now since the new parish priest of OLA initiated that the celebration of the Sto. Nino de Marikina's fiesta be held in the Shrine. Before, all festivities are held within the chapel of the Sto. Nino (and surrounding area), near Calumpang, now it is centralized as with all other Parish activities under the guidance of the parish priest; which is good given that he is the Father of his parish and should be seen as a leader. I greatly appreciate a parish parish who actively participates in activities such as this.
Holy Mass before the procession. In his homily the Parish Priest noted the 100 years of Marikina's devotion to the Sto. Nino given that they have in existence this particular ivory image
OLA interior appears undisturbed amidst the construction work on going on both sides

Looking ahead into the future...the main story of Christ's Life
I'm not happy seeing carroza's like this but I try to understand the owner's perspective wanting to ensure all Sto. Nino images are given the opportunity to participate in the procession...yeah but still...choose one!
My kind of Sto. Nino...= )
Sto. Nino's on an "andas"
Devotees carrying their beloved images to church

The Procession
Before the final blessing, Marikina's youth offered a modern ati-atihan dance for the Sto. Nino...too bad the sound system was not cooperative but the show must go on!
Procession starts...
Exiting the Shrine, I love churches with big entrances!
Sto. Nino de Marikina in front of OLA Shrine
O Santo Nino, who has said, "ask and you shall receive; seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you," Give we beseech you, to us who ask the gift of your divine love, that we may love you with our whole heart, in word and work, and never cease from showing forth your praise.
A hundred year old devotion to the Child Jesus, in Marikina
Caru-caruhan leading the procession...bida mga bata today!
on to the streets of Marikina...
A Sto. Nino fiesta is incomplete without the ati-atihan, although this is a rather bit too casual looking...
This year's Hermana Mayores
Sto. Nino de Marikina emerging from OLA
Holy God, we praise Thy Name.
Lord of all! we bow before Thee;
All on earth Thy scepter claim,
All in heaven above adore Thee;
Infinite Thy vast domain,
Everlasting is Thy reign.
Hark! the loud celestial hymn,
Angels' choirs above are raising;
Cherubim and Seraphim
In unceasing chorus praising,
Fill the heavens with sweet accord,
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord!
Fill the heav'ns with sweet accord,
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord!
Lord of all! we bow before Thee;
All on earth Thy scepter claim,
All in heaven above adore Thee;
Infinite Thy vast domain,
Everlasting is Thy reign.
Hark! the loud celestial hymn,
Angels' choirs above are raising;
Cherubim and Seraphim
In unceasing chorus praising,
Fill the heavens with sweet accord,
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord!
Fill the heav'ns with sweet accord,
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord!

The New OLA
I can't wait to see the final result of all the renovation work (although am not sure if you can really call it a renovation given that it appears to be more a modification and beautification of the current structure)...but from what I am seeing, the parishioners are on the right track. Also was surprised to see the left side altar dedicated to two Dominican Saints, further establishing Marikina's Holy Rosary tradition?...
After all that...
Marikina's special putong Pulo
