Lost & Found!
The first week of July was rocked not because of fireworks (fourth of July) but because of the robbery of the age-old ivory image of Nuestra Senora del Correa of Betis Pampanga. The ivory parts of the image were taken. The Sto. Nino image was stolen earlier and was returned, sadly it happened again.
As of writing this blog entry, the image has been returned to the Church authorities. I hope this never happens again. Aside from its religious value, the image has cultural and significant historical value to the people of Betis sad that there are people willing to go to all lengths to desecrate the image for selfish reasons.
But not all stories are bad, this month the Pagoda tradition in honor of the Krus ng Wawa was revived. I am noticing this trend of revival in the santo world lately...for example the Patanaw of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Quiapo (during the Translacion of the Black Nazarene from Quirino Grandstand to Quiapo Church). It seems as well that organizers have learned their lesson from the past tragedy. Hoping for the best. God bless us all!
